The following are job descriptions of the volunteers’ positions that we fill weekly

  1. Cooking, Hot Meal Preparation

Consists of Preparing the hot meal.  (Oven and Stove)

 (7:00 am – 8:30 am)

  • Sausage or meat item
  • Grits (doctored up with cheese, bacon bits, and butter)
  • Biscuits and Gravy
  • Left over food warm-up
  • Monitor Prep and Coffee/Juice
  1. Metropolitan Ministries Food Pickup

Consists of Driving to Pickup Eggs and Grits (Two Large Containters) and then returning the containers after we serve.

·         Location: 2002 North Florida Avenue ßClick for a Map Look for Sign for Met Min Turn left down ally way with Blue Awnings, Park in front of the Largest Awning, ring bell, take cart, collect food, return to car.

·         Pickup Two Containers (One Egg Container, One Grits)

·         Time: 7:30 am at Met Min.

·         Deliver at 7:50 am to Hyde Park UMC

·         Return Washed/Cleaned Containers after 8:30 am before 12 pm to Met Min.

  1. Panera Bread Pickup

Consists of picking up Leftover bread from Panera Bread

  • You MUST bring your own Garbage bags or containers
  • Location: Bruce B Downs and Fowler
  • When: Saturday Night at 9:30 pm before they close.

What to do with it:  Bring it to church the next day (7:45am)

  1. Servers (4 - 6 Persons)

Consists of serving our people food that we have prepared.

 (8:15 am – 9:15 am)

  • Prepare the Serving Line Table with Guest Utensils and Serving Utensils.
  • Working on the serving Line

 

  1. Cleanup (2 Persons)

Cleanup (9:30 – 10:15 am):

  • Wiping tables
  • Wiping down kitchen prep stations
  • Pickup Chairs and Tables or monitor member volunteers.

 

  1. Cleanup Dishes (2 Persons)

Washing Dishes and putting dishes away.  Use Three place sink and/or the automatic dishwasher  for items that will fit.

(Shift 1: 8:00 – 9:15) (Shift 2:  9:15 – 10:30)

  • Dishes from Cooking
  • Dishes from Serving
  1. Bread Cutters (2 Persons)

Cutting Bagels and bread that was brought in from Panera. (7:45 am – 8:15 am)

  • Spread cream cheese on each side of bagels and plate.
  • Cut and Plate all other bread.
  1. Fruit Prep and Juice Prep
  • Mixing the Drink Mix and filling the Igloo container. 
  • Opening up the fruit cans and placing in Walk-in fridge
  1. Sign-in Sergeant

Arrival Table (8:00 am – 9:30 am)

  • Working the Arrival Table.
  • Making sure the guests sign-in on the guest list.
  • Issuing Plates to each guest.   (One Per Person)
  • Explanation of Rules to the Guests. (Hand out provided)
  1.  Communion Elements (2 Persons)

At Exactly 9:05 am – ** 1st Sunday of Each Month

  • Please be in the Foyer of the Church Chapel and Listen to when the Pastor calls up the Servers to receive the elements.  This is your cue to walk through the middle doors up the center and join the other servers in receiving the elements.
  1. Clothes Distribution (Many Volunteers Needed)

Clothes Distribution ( 7:30 am – 9:30 am) – ** 1st Sunday of Each Month unless mentioned otherwise.

  • Help with the distribution of Clothes
  • Contact Kim Lohry if possible to ask additional Questions. 
  • Put out clothes on tables, Setup, Distribute, and Clean up.
